Who Is David MacGregor?

That's a good question. But I'll keep the answer brief. However, I can say that I'm not the guy on the right! But there is a musical connection.

I guess I ultimately made the internet my business home because of my own background - which surprisingly enough was as a professional musician (drummer). But the pickings got slim as I got older, and I had to find new ways to earn a living.

My first offline business was back in 1986, when I put together a discount voucher booklet which was sold via schools as a fundraising venture.

It was very successful, and I did it for 3 years while starting up a new publishing business. That was a singles magazine which I built from the ground up - and which taught me a lot about direct marketing. It was during that time that I honed my writing skills, as the whole business was conducted by mail.

I used to have a standard reply to anyone who asked me what I did for a living. My answer was: "I write letters and people send me money". And although lighthearted, it was essentially true - as my writing and advertising skills created a cashflow of around $50,000 to $60,000 a month - with just me and a staff of one.

The magazine was sold via subscription and was advertised in newspapers and TV - and I stuck at that for 8 years, then sold it.

All of this was good grounding for what was soon to hit the scene - the internet. And I remember well my first exposure to it. It was slow and cumbersome - and expensive, but I was spellbound by the idea, and from that day on swore I would make my living online.

Just as well really, as it was getting harder and harder for me to make any sort of living offline!

My first foray into internet business was back in 1998 when I put up my first tentative website and offered my services as a broker. Not much came of that, but it did give me experience at using the fundamental tools of the net.

My next venture was to get a contract writing a weekly ezine for a web publisher on the subject of offshore banking and asset protection. That was my leg-up, as I was earning $500 a week for my efforts. I couldn't believe it at the time, but I soon got used to the idea!

From there I went on to start my own internet business and went full time in 1999. I haven't looked back since!

I now operate a couple of different businesses, with the goal of creating diverse and multiple sources of income. My workhorse business - the one that keeps me clothed and fed - is an information service for those who are tired of Big Brother and would like to claim more practical freedom for themselves.

This operates like a private club, and is my personal pride and joy. It's called SovereignLife - and you can learn more about it HERE.

I've also dabbled in various other online businesses, with varying degrees of success. I'm currently working on a couple which are showing great promise, and you can learn more about those on my Opportunities page.

All in all, working online is a wonderful lifestyle. I never have to commute. I work my own hours. I can take my work and do it anywhere - using my laptop. The upside is I can work from anywhere in the world - and do. The downside is that my work is integrated tightly with my life, and is never far away.

Give you an example. When I go on "holiday", I must take my work with me. When in holiday mode I get up early and put in a couple of hours work - then close the computer and have the rest of the day and evening off.

Now, while it seems a drag to not be able to take a real holiday, in the sense of leaving work behind, in fact it offers a lot of freedom. How? Because I can take a holiday wherever and whenever I like. All I need is an internet connection and I'm in business.

The internet has given me freedom like never before and I'm passionate about helping others see the potential, and to realise a similar dream for themselves.

Maybe it's your dream too?

All the best ...

David
